Particular Need

Lenana Girls High School currently lacks adequate boarding facilities to safely accommodate its growing student population. The school’s unfinished and overcrowded dormitory limits enrollment and forces vulnerable girls to live in unstable or temporary conditions, undermining their safety, health, and ability to focus on their studies. Completing and equipping the dormitory is critical to ensuring that every student has secure housing and a supportive environment in which to learn and thrive.

CUSTOMIZED SOLUTION

Complete and equip the Lenana Girls High School dormitory to safely house up to 200 students, providing secure rooms, adequate water and sanitation facilities, and adult supervision. This expansion will create a stable, supportive environment where vulnerable girls can live, study, and focus on their personal and academic development.

AREA OVERVIEW

In Kenya, thousands of girls are unable to continue their education due to poverty, early pregnancy, and cultural barriers that discourage female schooling. This problem is severe in Trans-Nzoia County, where early marriage, child labor, and teenage pregnancy remain prevalent. Many girls who have dropped out or been excluded from traditional schools due to these challenges lack any pathway to resume their education.
